Instantly after the teeth removal procedure, your dentist will ask you to bite gently on a piece of dry gauze. You need to keep the gauze on the extraction site for about 30 to 45 minutes to stop bleeding. You should avoid smoking, vigorous rinsing or eating hard food substances for the next 24 hours.

You can experience some amount of pain and discomfort after the extraction. In some cases, your dentist will prescribe a pain killer. Also, you can apply an ice pack on your cheek for 15 minutes at a time. However, if you experience extreme pain, swelling, bleeding, or fever, then call your dentist immediately.
